Wash and Care Instructions for Embroidery

HOME LAUNDERING

All embroidered garments should be washed with a mild detergent. If bleach is required for washing, a small amount of chlorine bleach can be used.
Non-chlorine bleach in accordance with product instructions is preferable.
Machine wash with cold water.
Delicate wash cycle.
If color residue appears in water, rinse first in lukewarm water, then cold water, several times until rinse water becomes clear.
Remove promptly after wash cycle completion. Never leave any piece of embroidered clothing soaking or in water or lying in a pile when wet.
Do not wring out the embroidered articles.
Do not rub stained embroidery. Go up to the Precision Stitch and Ink FAQ Menu

DRY CLEANING: Embroidery may be dry cleaned; however, extreme care should be exercised when dry cleaning. Special care must be taken when dark shades are dry cleaned. Avoid use of pre-spotting agents.

IRONING: Embroidered fabrics should always be ironed on the reverse side It is recommended to iron embroidery between two pieces of cloth It is not recommended to wet embroidery prior to ironing or to use a steam iron Note: Normally the care label instructions pertain to the garment, not the embroidery. Special care should be taken when laundering embroidered garments. Since the conditions of use, washing, pressing and cleaning, etc. vary in use of yarns and threads, the purchaser should assure himself by preliminary tests that the dye fastness of the yarn or thread is 100% colorfast to crocking or washing under all conditions. We cannot be responsible for any consequential damages since the value of the thread is so disproportionate to the value of the goods into which it is stitched. Wash and Care Instruction Screen Printed Garments

To properly care for your new custom screen printed garment, follow these simple instructions:

1. Turn the screen printed garment inside out. Wash your screen printed item in cold water with no bleach, on a gentle cycle or even hand wash.

2. Remove the garment within a few minutes of the spin cycle finishing.

3. Hang on a line to dry. This provides the best results for long lasting quality. You may also dry on low/medium heat and remove as soon as possible, after drying.

4. Avoid commercial Dryers in a Laundromat. Temperature Controls are not accurate and excessive heat can damage printed graphics from any provider of screen printed products. Most often the result is cracking of the printed graphics.

5. DO NOT DRY CLEAN. This will damage the printed graphics. Go up to the Precision Stitch and Ink FAQ Menu

Digital Printed Garment Care:

1. T-shirts are almost always washed with other items. Some items are quite abrasive(like towels), and if the shirt is not inside-out, friction can cause quite a bit of wear and tear on the garment and the printed graphics.

2. Washing in hot water won't necessarily destroy our printed graphics, but color loss can occur. Washing in cold water will reduce color loss.

3. Bleach is used to remove color stains. Some soap actually has quite a bit of so-called “color-fast” bleach in them. This won’t destroy an image, but it doesn’t help.

4. If a shirt is left in the washer too long after the wash cycle, the colors can bleed.

5. Quickly removing a garment from a dryer is fairly important. Even if you dry on low to medium heat, the middle of a load of clothes is hot! If a wadded-up shirt stays in a dryer with 20-30 lbs. of clothes on top of it, it will look a little crumpled when it comes out of the dryer. This can cause the printed graphics to crack.

With Digitally Printed Garments—as with all decorated garments—you will prolong the life of the shirt by turning them inside-out and washing them in cold water. Never use bleach! Your shirt can be machine dried on low heat.

**PLEASE NOTE: Direct To Garment printing on dark shirts requires a special pre-treatment that will bind the white underbase to the fabric. This pre-treatment will make the fabric slightly stiff after the ink is cured. Most people will not notice it; however, the stiffness will be gone after the first wash. Do you offer a "proof" of what the item will look like printed?

Yes! A digital mock up of what your item will look like will be emailed you for approval before we go to print. Customers should carefully review their graphics and should pay particular attention to spelling if your graphic incorporates words. If printed colors are critical to your project, we recommend that customers verify the colors chosen for print against a Pantone book, proofs against a paper print or computer monitor screen for color cannot be guaranteed.

Once the customer approves the artwork, Precision Stitch & Ink will not be held responsible should the order be completed and later found to have errors due to spelling or other issues when the final product's graphic matches the customer approved art.

Customers are ultimately responsible for insuring their artwork is correct prior to order production. When customers submit their own artwork for an order the artwork will be considered to have been proofed once submitted to Precision Stitch & Ink. If artwork submitted is still in draft form, the customer must make Precision Stitch & Ink aware that the art provided is not the final artwork for the order, and the order will go on hold until final artwork is approved. Are there certain materials that work better than others?

Yes. When it comes to garments 100% cotton works the very best. We always recommend 100% cotton for garments. Go up to the Precision Stitch and Ink FAQ Menu

What kind of print quality does a Direct to Garment Printing (DTG) produce?

The quality of a DTG print is amazing! Since the print process uses CMYK inks, the color gamut is almost limitless. The print itself is very vibrant and has great detail. Direct to Garment Printing can produce high quality gradients and photos because it is a continuous tone process. There are no halftone dots or screens used to simulate shades of color. Because of this, blends and photos are smooth and detailed in appearance. Just remember, we are printing on fabric, not paper, so super fine detail may not appear like it does on paper. Do you match Pantones?

Pantone colors are an industry standard and as such we expect provided artwork to call out specific Pantone colors. When artwork calls out specific Pantones there is no charge for us to mix Pantones for your order. Customers who do not specify a specific Pantone Color are subject to our 'eye' match.

**PLEASE NOTE: Color matching is not guaranteed to perfectly match due to a large number of variables which affect color matching. Precision Stitch & Ink will make every effort to match your color as close as possible. Go up to the Precision Stitch and Ink FAQ Menu
